The Saints U15s progress to the next round of the league cup beating higher league opposition St Finsbarrs. The Saints again flew out the blocks scoring two quick fire goals. Olly Upton heading in at the back post on both occasions. The saints continued to dominate proceedings and always looked dangerous at set pieces. Against the run of St Finsbarr bar got back in the game. A long ball was not dealt with between goalkeeper and centre half allowing a simple tap in

Halftime 2-1

The goal conceded didnít seem to affect the saints on the restart as a devastating period of play put the Saints 5-1 up. Euan scoring the third from the penalty spot, quickly followed up with goals from Josh and Cameron. Game over, not quite. A spirited comeback from St Finsbarrs resulted in them scoring three in the final ten minutes to make it 5-4. Stoppage time brought above another nervy finish but the saints held on to go into the hat for the next round. No game for the U15s in a weeks time, then itís Athletic United at home in the nursing cup.

Ď Another entertaining game and great to make it four wins on the bounce, beat higher league opposition and progress in the cup. We have a touch of the Kevin Keegan Newcastle about us. We are scoring goals every week and in commanding positions in games and then we switch off. We played well for 70 minutes to be 5-1 up but last ten minutes we again didnít manage the game properly. We scored five and had both feet in the next round, but continued to pour forward and not stay disciplined. Once we are commanding positions we need to keep the back door locked better.

The hardest thing to do in football is to score goals and coach attacking football. You can tell the boys are really enjoying the attacking freedom we give them but we need a more balanced overall team display where we are more disciplined defensively. In periods we do look solid and then we have patches where we are very loose. We have blown teams away with our attacking play and goals scored but we need to be tighter at the back as the season progresses.
